Bill White, Retired Intrepid President and Current CEO of Constellations Group, on Clive Davis’ Pre-Grammy Gala and the Shock of Houston’s Death

Bill White retired as President of Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum in 2010 and currently serves as Chairman and CEO of Constellations Group, a strategic relationship and business development firm, with the mission of benefiting those who have given so much in defense of our country.

Beverly Hills, CA – Bill White, retired Intrepid President and current Chairman and CEO of Constellations Group, recently attended Clive Davis’ Annual Pre-Grammy party at the Beverly Hilton. The initially somber evening, in light of the sudden loss of Whitney Houston just hours earlier, became a truly extraordinary celebration of her life and the music industry she loved.

Bill White, like the rest of the world, was shocked and saddened by the passing of one of the biggest recording artists of all time. “She must be up there in heaven, God rest her soul,” said the retired Intrepid President. In an interview with Christina Gonzalez from FOX 11 in LA, retired Intrepid President Bill White explained that everyone was in shock over this tragic loss of such a revered wonder whose angelic voice inspired millions.

In an interview with Heidi Collins from FOX 9 News, Bill White recapped the evening’s events and the shock among attendees. Bill White went on to applaud Sean “Diddy” Combs’ tribute to Whitney Houston prior to introducing the gala’s host, Clive Davis. Diddy reflected on the life of Houston fondly, noting her natural positive spirit and listening to her sing was like listening to magic. He then went on to introduce the host of the pre-Grammy event, Clive Davis.

Davis, mentor of the late Whitney Houston, took the stage and honored the fallen star with a moment of silence. In his opening remarks, Clive Davis said, “Simply put, Whitney would have wanted the music to go on and her family asked that we carry on.” Following the moment of silence, Davis declared, “Let the music begin!” The evening’s somber mood then turned into a celebration of Whitney Houston’s life. “Clive’s tribute to Whitney was so special,” noted Bill White during the interview with Heidi Collins.

Bill White extends his sincerest condolences to the family and friends of Houston and wishes them much peace and strength in dealing with this unbearable loss.

Earlier this year, Clive Davis attended the wedding of Bill White and longtime partner Bryan Eure at the Four Seasons in New York. Aretha Franklin, the god mother of Whitney Houston, was also in attendance to serenaded the newly married couple and entertain fellow guests. The wedding was the first legal gay wedding ever held at the Four Seasons Restaurant in NYC. The wedding of the retired Intrepid President was a carefully orchestrated and highly publicized event intended to draw attention to legalizing same-sex marriage and marriage equality in America.

About Bill White

Bill White has dedicated his career to honoring, advocating and supporting our nation’s military personnel, veterans and their families.

Dallas, TX – On Saturday, the 28th of January 2012, Lillian Agbeyegbe launched her new publication, Speaking My Daughter’s Mind: A Collection of Blog Entries.

Lillian Agbeyegbe, who read a short excerpt from the book, said she got the inspiration to start the baby blog due to the many positive responses she received after she sent out a mass email to family and friends announcing the birth of her baby girl. The blog ultimately lead to this collection of witty stories.

At the launch, excerpts of the book were read by girls between the ages of 5-12, and they all showcased the book’s fun and simple language.

The book beautifully captures the little everyday drama between a daughter and her mother. It also sheds some light on raising an American born daughter from a Nigerian perspective. The collection of stories highlights faith in God, which is fundamental to the lives of this mother and child.

Bose Oludipe, who gave an overview of the book, said that there are some sayings in it that will take Nigerians in America back to their childhood days in Nigeria. Words like “jangrova”- a homemade child’s swing – brought about an eruption of laughter to the book launch audience.

Oludipe also said the book is one to be passed on to future generations who would identify with stories in the book.

Guests at the launch included Dr. & Mrs. Johnson Omoni, Rev. Felix Bamirin, Abimbola Laniyan, Bose Oludipe, Elizabeth Oyeniyi, Shirley Flinn, Lateph Adeniji and Laja Akintayo. In attendance were over 100 people, including representatives from the local church, and members of Nigerian families including the author’s sister Roli Agbeyegbe.

Poet and Artiste Dr. Kole Odutola, sums up the book, “the acts are those of the daughter but the voice is that of her mother.”

She holds a Master’s degree in Public Health, from Hunter College, City University of New York and an Economics degree from the University of Lagos, Nigeria.
