Apple prepares holographic display

IPad and iPhone manufacturer, Apple, has registered a patent for a new type of holographic screen that allows playback of 3D images without the need for special glasses.

New technology could be used to produce new types of televisions, computer monitors and cinema screens.

According to the patent application, the new system will present images taken from slightly different angles, creating three-dimensional impression.

By tracking the viewer’s eye movement, the two images for each eye will be adjusted so that it produces images that will mimic a real hologram.

An interesting aspect of the invention is that it can produce visual experiences that can not be distinguished by viewing a real hologram.
